Art thank you for your reply to my Request on B7100 head gasket posting. Can you explane why you think it is the rings. Would a compression test give me a definate answer? The tractor seems to have plenty of power. If it is the rings can you recomend an addative to try before I tear the engine appart to replace the rings? ....

I'm not familiar with the engine block/head design on your machine, but wouldn't you have coolant loss or coolant in the oil if it were a blown head gasket? ....

Before I'd make a recommendation I'd really want to know more. How was the tractor used? How long of intervals was it run? How many approximate hours? I ask this because as I see people looking for the larger tractors that will not be run for long periods under load a problem arises of the rings not seating! We have seen it for years with the farm tractors or the low mile diesel truck which never got warmed up properly from in town use and the cylinders got washed from the unburned fuel from not being warmed up properly. If this is the case I might tell you to go out and run the snot out of it for an extended period of time, we might put them on a dyno for six hours plus straight under full load and be able to cook the glaze off the cylinders if not to bad but otherwise removal of the head and pistons and a good deglazing and install new rings and gaskets and be fine. A leaky head gasket normally means a loss of fluid often external but sometimes internal normally making it difficult to keep coolent in. ....
